Flora Lake

SURFACE AREA: 16.1 Hectares (39.8 Acres)
MEAN DEPTH: 7.1 metres (23.3 feet)
MAXIMUM DEPTH: 16.0 metres (52.5 feet)
ELEVATION: 1356 metres

Location:  Access is from the Chilliwack Lake Road, drive 40km from the bridge at Vedder Crossing and  look for a sign at the side of the road that says “Post Creek, Lindeman, Greendrop, and Flora Lakes”. Park along side the road and walk into the first old road to the right (before Lindeman trailhead).  Follow this road and turn left where it meets another old road and follow orange squares marking the route on the long switch-backed trail uphill to the saddle.

To enjoy fishing at Flora, you first of all need to negotiate the 7km (minimum 3 hour) hike to it, so people often make it an overnighter!  It’s not for the faint hearted as the trail climbs 1585m to a ridge which then drop 345m down to the lake.  If you can carry a float tube on the hike then it’ll come in useful as you’ll be able to reach the bigger fish out in the lake who don’t like to venture need the edges.

Water is crystal clear and the trout can be difficult to trick.  Even in the clearest lakes fish will come to the shore at the dusk and will pay attention to dry flies.
